Thermal, Lighting and IAQ Control System for Energy Saving and Comfort Management

The present work proposes a simulation and control framework for home building automation, focusing on heating, ventilating, air conditioning processes. Control systems based different advanced architectures policies are simulated compared, highlighting performances, energy-saving results in terms of CO2 emissions reduction. Heat, lighting, natural ventilation phenomena were modelized through first-principles empirical equations, obtaining reliable flexible framework. Energy-consuming green energy-supplying renewable sources integrated into the framework, e.g., heat pumps, artificial lights, fresh flow, illuminance. Different schemes proposed, proportional–integral–derivative discrete event dynamic systems-based supervisors; specifications included, resulting multi-mode system. refer to energy savings comfort management, while minimizing overall costs. Comfort include thermal comfort, lighting good level indoor quality.
